FAQs

Chances are, if you’re wondering about it, someone else is too. Explore the answers to some of the most common CBD queries we hear.

What is CBD?

CBD, or cannabidiol, is a nonintoxicating phytocannabinoid (a naturally occurring plant compound) found in hemp and other cannabis plants. CBD has been shown to have a variety of beneficial effects.

Will CBD get me high?

Unlike THC, another cannabinoid commonly found in marijuana, CBD does not cause a high. Full-spectrum CBD products (like ours) do contain <0.3% THC, but this amount is nowhere near enough to cause any psychoactive effects.

What’s the difference between cannabis plants and hemp?

Technically, nothing. Hemp, also known as Cannabis sativa L., is actually a type of Cannabis plant—a larger plant genus that also includes marijuana plants. Over the years, the term “cannabis” has become culturally synonymous with marijuana or weed, but in fact, this category of plants includes both hemp and marijuana.

Does the source of my CBD matter?

Yes! The source of your CBD is one of the most important factors in determining whether your CBD regimen will be effective. For starters, the soil conditions used to grow the hemp plants your CBD is extracted from can set the final CBD product up for success or failure. At Verist, we choose the areas of our farm where we know the soil will be able to best nurture the right mix of cannabinoids and terpenes to produce the most therapeutic CBD. We also use clean, green, natural farming practices so no chemicals or pesticides are introduced to the crop—or into your body. But the most important differentiator in buying from a brand like Verist is the fact that our CBD comes from a single origin. This means that when you start a CBD regimen with our products, you’ll be able to experience more consistent benefits than you would with a brand who gets their CBD from a variety of different sources. When you choose a single-origin brand, you can be sure you’re getting exactly what you expect, every time.

How is Verist CBD different from other brands?

The growing process is a huge part of why it makes sense to choose Verist over any other hemp brand. As a fourth-generation family farm, we’ve been farming in the same part of the Minnesota River Valley for over 130 years. Our hemp selection process is another reason. We start with genetics that provide the highest therapeutic qualities, and then we further examine and identify the phenotype with the cannabinoids and terpenes we believe will be most desirable for the body and the palate. When it comes to the extraction process, we extract full-spectrum CBD to create products that have the most potential to be beneficial. While broad-spectrum CBD or CBD isolate may be right for some people, to us it feels more like taking a vitamin rather than just eating your vegetables.
